          Quezon City, 05 August 2011 – As part of its Public Assistance and Awareness Campaign, the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) today advised taxpayers to deal only with BIR Accredited Tax Practitioners and Agents in regard to their transactions with the tax agency.

Quezon City, 04 August 2011 - The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) today warned taxpayers, as well as the general public, of the modus operandi of some unscrupulous persons posing as BIR revenue officers.

ANTIPUESTO TRIKE FOR LIFE FOUNDATION, INC. (ANTRIKE), including its President PABLITO D. ANTIPUESTO, was unmasked today by the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) for engaging in ultra vires acts constituting unreported taxable activities when a criminal complaint for tax evasion was filed against it with the Department of Justice for willful attempt  to evade or defeat tax and deliberate failure to supply correct and accurate information in its income tax return (ITR) for taxable year 2008, in violation of Sections 254 and 255 of the National Internal Revenue Code of 1997, as amended (Tax Code).

CARLOTA CRISTI MANALO TAN (TAN), a single proprietor who is one of the subjects of a Senate inquiry on anomalous transactions with the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR), has been consigned to the tax evasion rolls after the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) today filed with the Department of Justice (DOJ) a criminal complaint against her for willful attempt to evade or defeat payment of tax and deliberate failure to supply correct and accurate information in her income tax return (ITR) for taxable years 2003 and 2004, in violation of Sections 254 and 255 of the Tax Code of 1997, as amended.

BIR 107th Anniversary Today August 1, 2011

The Bureau of Internal Revenue is celebrating its 107th Anniversary. Under the leadership of Commissioner Kim S. Jacinto-Henares. Early this morning Secretary of Finance Cesar V. Purisima spoke in front of BIR Revenue officials.

Although President Benigno S. Aquino III could not come to this special occasion he provided a message to greet the BIR on its founding anniversary:

Let this significant milestone be an occasion for you to further
strengthen your solidarity and to more resolutely uphold the
ideals of transparency, accountability, and honesty.

My warmest greetings and heartfel congratulations to the Bureau of  Internal Revenue on the occasion of your 107th Anniversary.
